Maryn's first trip to Point O' Woods

We are so very lucky to have a special place like Point O Woods to share time and to make memories with our family. The setting is serene...the calm water of the bay laps against the bulkhead just 30 feet from the front porch, the crashing waves of the Atlantic just a 2 minute bike ride across the island, cool breezes in the morning, warm summer sun in the afternoon, no cars, no motorized vehicles, no leashes! (Bode Bay was in doggie heaven), just wagons and bikes...sail boats too! It's a simple life...no frills..no tv, just hours of playing Yahtzee and Scrabble...Maryn's great grandma Johnson NEVER loses at a game of scrabble...you gotta watch out for her! We caught our minnows, we fished, we swam, we rode bikes, we went for jogs, we ate, we relaxed, we dreamed of doing it all over again next summer! Thank you grandma and poppop Johnson for providing this home...it's a family treasure!
Grandma and poppop Cummings. The home belongs to grandma Cummings parents...she grew up coming to Point O Woods since she was born. The community is family oriented and you can only own a home if you have children! There are daily camps for all the kids...tennis, sailing etc etc! We can't wait until Maryn is old enough to really enjoy all the fun.
The ferry ride over from Long Island's Bay Shore
You thought Maryn looked like her daddy...check her out with grandma Cummings...it's sort of scary at times

Poppop Cummings with his grand babes. Bode just loves his poppops!

Just keep this image in your head of our dog who is deathly afraid of the water!
Day 1

A family friend of ours made Maryn some onesies with her name on them and her birthdate on the butt...so adorable...thank you Jan!

Enjoying a tubby in the breezeway. Thanks Claire for the blowup bath...it's so perfect for traveling!

She loves when I pour the water down her face...she bats her lashes, licks her lips and smiles big!

Bode enjoying the views of the water

I love my daddy

Her sleeping quarters for the week...complete with Sophie the giraffe and Hannah the Banana

such a handsome fella

She has bloomed!

We brought the Bumbo along so we would have somewhere to put her down, but she decided that she would just rather stand than sit!

He just couldn't believe how much freedom he had all week. I was worried that I'd be chasing him around the island and healing wounds after he introduced himself to friendly deer but he did great! He stayed close to us, ran next to our bikes, sat on the front porch and came when he was called about 95% of the time!

His magic stick...

oops...I dropped it ..
what a goof! He thought he had finally 'Made it'...his perfect home, no leashes, no fences, no 100 degree heat...he was so depressed on our drive home:(

The house!
The best sounds at night are of course the water on the bay but also the sound of people riding their bikes over the boardwalk....some of the loose planks will rattle and for some strange reason..it's a comforting sound.

Poppop sister came to visit for a day from New Jersey...and guess what?????? She and her dog, Bear....taught Bode to swim!!!!!!!!!!! I just couldn't believe it....I am thrilled! He's like a child who purposefully won't do something simply because his parents want him to!
Remember that timid dog...no more...he LOVES it! He just couldn't get enough...we'd throw out the tennis ball, back he came...wanting to do it again and again and again!

Catching minnows

Poppop was fishing and Bode was intently watching the bobber...I thought for sure he was gonna jump in

Don't leave home without it

We hung out while they fished

She got eaten by mosquitos the first day...you can see the bite on her forehead and cheek :(

great grandma Johnson

and great poppop Johnson
grandma cummings and sadie

daily digs: flamingo skirt from baby gap and simple pink onesie old navy...cheeks owned by Maryn:)

Aunt Sue...the dog whisperer! Thank you so much for giving our Bode the encouragement that he needed!

Tired from a day at the beach

She bloomed again...thanks grandma Cummings!
We had to get her these cool shades to protect her baby blues...she absolutely cannot go out in the sun without squinting. She's got sensitive eyes just like her daddy

Just chill'n in her canopy..gotta protect that fresh baby skin

She's really not into her feet too much but she liked them this day

Mac's cousin Laura

She's already taking steps when you hold her by her arms...she will literally walk across the room while you hold her up!

snooze'n..and yes, she's on her belly but I was watching every breath!

She had enough of the beach at this point
Looks like Mac and I gave birth to a daisy...well, maybe I gave birth but he planted the seed :)

Thanks auntie Raz for the dress...she couldn't smell sweeter

auntie Jaclyn got her this awesome onesie! But...Maryn just ate her first cereal last night so maybe I'll sharpie in "and cereal" on the shirt

We absolutely adore this little girl

She loves when you blow on her face...check out her smile with the wind in her face

this IS a blog...so of course I pick out the best pictures...I just want you to fully understand that as picture perfect as our little family looks...it's not always easy getting that perfect shot! I actually live in pajama pants and pony tails and Mac in gym shorts...Maryn on the other hand...always looks cute!

grandma Cummings

Goodbyes are always hard...it was raining the morning we left...that makes getting our luggage down to the ferry a task. We had to keep our bags, baby Maryn, and Bode somewhat dry for our long drive home.

The ferry ride back...so sad to leave!

I have been enjoying your blog ever since Mary Ziejewski, my daughter and your parents' former neighbor in Ohio, sent me the link.
"Maryn's first trip to Point O' Woods"reads like a novel. You truly captured the aura of this ever so special place.I feel as if I lived every precious moment of it. I even got sad when it was time to leave. Give Bode a big hug from me for his amazing achievement. Maryn's outfits are always a delight.
The cerise hat w flower and the orange/cerise trimmed dress is my favorite.
Thanks for enriching my days with all you put into your blog. Eleanor
