Our trip to the mountains...Bayley's heaven
We spent last weekend in the mountains of Asheville, NC and loved every moment. Bayley was in heaven...freedom to run off leash and too many smells to take in. It was definately a therapeutic trip.
I am sorry to hear about this. I just came across your blog. One of my daughters (age 30) is not married yet and has a lab mix named Otie. He is so vital to her life. I am not all that much of a 'dog person' but I understand what it means to people like you and my daughter. "Sure," I say, "they are -only- or -just- animals," but they're not are they? They are real 'people.' I am beginning to understand this, and as one who believes in 'life after life' I am a firm believer in that this extends to your 'pet' family/people as well and that we will be joined with them some day as we will with our regular family members and friends when it's our time to pass on. But in the meantime I know it must be a sad time. All the best to you, though, and of course, Bayley. Where there is life, there is always hope and since life never ends, then neither should the hope.
I just came across your blog and after a few minutes of reading i found myself crying. I am a HUGE animal lover and also have owned a Golden. They are the most lovable dogs ever! We lost ours about a year and a half ago. I am so so so sorry for you loss he look like he was an amazing dog.
Our amazing 6 year old dog, Bayley, was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer on January 25, 2008 and lost his battle on July 20, 2008...just one week after our new puppy was born. It was as if Bay simply knew he had to wait until he was sure that more joy would be brought into our home. Bayley was the most gentle, loving, selfless dog (or human for that matter) that you had ever met. Our brave little man endured 6 months of chemotherapy and tried to fight the nasty evil, but unfortunately for us all, he was taken too soon. We find comfort in knowing that he's in heaven running free without pain, swimming in the oceans, and eating endless treats. Dog owner's might have an easier time understanding how this has affected our lives. These loyal and loving animals have the uncanny ability to make life meaningful and 100% more fulfilled. It's crazy how the love from a dog can touch your heart in a way that no human can. We decided to get our new puppy, Bode, so that Bayley would have a friend during his last year but they never got the chance to meet. Bode reminds us so much of Bayley...it's as if a little part of Bay's soul is inside of him. This blog started as a means of therapy during a sad time in our lives and has turned into a site for us to rejoice in the happy, innocent joys of our puppy, Bode Bay and the miracle of our children, Maryn Amelia & Benham Austin.

He looks like he is having a great time along with feeling great. May he stay that way for a long time to come.
